2025/6 CHALLENGE TROPHY RULES
The Mersea Island Challenge Trophy, is open to a maximum of 12 clubs including the organising club Mersea Island P S. For the 2025/6 competition in addition Mersea Island PS, we should have Colchester PS, XRR PS, Rochdale PS, East Ipswich CC, Ivybridge CC, North Norfolk PS, Dalston PS, Dingwall CC, Norwich & District PS, Selby CC, and South Liverpool PS.
- Each club shall submit 5 digital images for the core competition plus an additional image to be used in a tie break competition (6 images in total). Images shall not have been used in any previous years MICT competition.Images must reach Dick Waylen by Wednesday 31st December 2025. Images may be emailed or sent via the use of cloud services (example dropbox or https://wetransfer.com/) email: [email protected] of images, recognising that most federations and most clubs use 1600 x 1200 pixel image size clubs are requested to submit at 1600 x 1200 pixels. - Files should be named as follows:Number – First 3 letters of club name – Author - Title.jpegExample; 003 - Mer - B Bloggs - Rusty Winch.jpegPlease include a space either side of hyphens. (It is important that apart from where shown no punctuation marks are used within the title i.e name is B Bloggs not B. Bloggs.) Numbers will be used to determine the running order of each clubs’ images; they will be allocated a different number when assembled for the competition to reflect the actual running order as shown on the score sheet which will be issued when the entries are distributed at the end of December / early January. Images numbered 001 to 005 must be by different authors, image numbered 006 (or TB) will be used in the “tie break competition (see 6 below)” and may be by one of the authors of images 001 to 005 or another author.
- Each club shall appoint a judge for their round and judges shall award each image a mark 1-20 (no half marks allowed) Judges should have previous experience at judging interclub competitions. Each round can be judged live, pre-judged and displayed at a live meeting or via a digital meeting (example Zoom, MS Teams or other), or any mix as determined by the host club.
- A copy of the completed scoresheet must be emailed to all other clubs as soon as possible after each round of the competition.

- If 11 or 12 clubs are involved in the competition, the Tie break images will be scored as a separate competition and only used to determine the winner if the main competition results in a tie. If 10 or less clubs are involved all 6 images will be judged as the main competition, and in the event of a tie image no 6 (TB) from the tying clubs will be discarded to determine the winner. If a tie still results then the tying clubs will share the trophy. The challenge trophy shield will be held by the winning club for 1 year and engraving is the responsibility of the winners.

- By entering the competition, each participating club authorises the other participating clubs to display the images for internal club meetings at the resolution submitted. (Not for open public display).
- Each participating club will hold the images and author data in confidence paying due respect to the GDPR legislation. If a club wishes to put any images from the competition on its club website then they must take action to prevent unauthorised copying, for example by inserting a watermark, or displaying low resolution images.
